Foos Nano Tapered Ball Nose 3D Engraving Router Bit Sets - Solid Carbide - 1/4" Shank
Part #: FB-1378, FB-9756, FB-5451, FB-7877, FB-6875, FB-8956
- FINE 3D DETAIL: A small ball tip carves fine detail and smooth 3D relief, while the thicker tapered body stays stiff and steady in deeper passes.
- MANY MATERIALS: Sharp solid carbide cuts cleanly in hardwood, softwood, MDF, plywood, acrylic, PVC, ABS, two-color engraving laminates and other plastics, plus aluminum, brass and carbon fiber.
- FITS YOUR MACHINE: 1/4 inch shank fits most CNC routers, desktop CNCs and trim routers with a 1/4" collet.
- FOOS NANO COATED: The coating cuts friction, so the bit runs cooler, resists pitch and resin buildup, and holds a sharp edge longer than an uncoated bit. Less cleanup between jobs.
- USA VETERAN-OWNED SUPPORT: US veteran-owned FOOS has sold router bits for 10 years. Message us and a real person answers. Each bit is laser-engraved with FOOS and its part number.
FOOS Nano Coated Tapered Ball Nose Router Bits, 1/4" shank, solid carbide.
What it is for: fine 3D carving, relief work, portraits, lithophanes and detailed sign work, with a thick tapered body that keeps the small tip steady. Sizes listed are tip radius.
Materials: hardwood, softwood, plywood, MDF, acrylic, PVC, ABS, laminates and other plastics, plus aluminum, brass and carbon fiber. Use lighter passes and suitable speeds in metals.
Fit: 1/4" shanks for 1/4" collets on CNC routers, desktop CNCs and trim routers.
FOOS Nano coating: the coating reduces friction at the cutting edge, so the bit runs cooler, resists pitch and resin buildup, and holds a sharp edge longer.
Every FOOS bit is laser-engraved with the FOOS brand and its part number, so reordering the right size is easy. FOOS is a US veteran-owned shop. Speeds and feeds depend on your machine, material and depth of cut. Message us and we will help you dial them in.

Speeds & Feeds
Starting values for 2-flute FOOS Nano Tapered Ball Nose bits at 18,000 RPM. Feed = RPM × 2 flutes × chip load. Plunge at about 1/3 of feed.

These are starting points. Adjust for your machine's rigidity and material, and listen to the cut. Feed in inches per minute (IPM). Depth is per finishing pass, after a roughing pass with a larger bit. Stepover is a % of tip diameter (2 x tip radius). Lower it for a smoother surface.
